This group is for all levels of outdoor enthusiasts! From beginners to expert level participants, and everyone in between! All are welcome. We will meet to explore outdoor activities at the State Park. All outings are free of charge, please bring your own gear. We are looking forward to seeing you out there!! Smoking is not permitted at any of this group's outings.

100 Grafton Lakes State Park Way

Get out and enjoy a hike on the first day of fall! Guided by an environmental educator, we will hike and look for signs of fall and enjoy picturesque views of the Rensselaer Plateau. This program is designed for ages 7 and up. This program will be held on Tuesday 9/22 beginning at 10:00 AM. To pre-register, email [masked] no later than 4:00 PM on Sunday 9/20. Please be sure to include the date and program title in your email. For example, “September 22 First Day of Fall Hike.” In your email, let us know how many people in your group will be attending, first and last names, and phone numbers. Please note that programming capacity is limited to meet COVID-19 safety requirements. Additionally, masks must be worn by all participants for the entire duration of the program. Lastly, patrons must keep social distance of 6 feet from other family groups throughout the program.

Sketching the Woodland - Pre-registration req'd: graftonlakessp@parks.ny.gov

NOTE: Email pre-registration is required. See below for details. You don’t have to be an artist to make art! Nature is the source of our love for beauty. Colors, shapes, and patterns give form to the singing birds, whispering trees, and silent blooms. Take a closer look at the nature around you and enjoy the meditative benefits of putting pencil to paper, reflecting what you see. We will provide No. 2 pencils, paper, and clipboards. Feel free to bring your own tools if you have a preference (you may want to bring colored pencils when the leaves start to change!). Be sure to bring water and a comfortable seat. This program will be held Wednesdays at 4 PM (9/2, 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30). Due to the short walk from the parking area, late arrivals are OK with advance notice. This program is designed for ages 10 and up, and for a wide range of accessibility levels. Program meeting location will be shared when you pre-register. To pre-register, email [masked] by 4:00PM on the Monday before the program (8/31, 9/7, 9/14, 9/21, 9/28). Please be sure to include the date and program title in your email. For example, “9/2 Sketching the Woodland.” In your email, let us know how many people will be attending for your family group as well as your first and last name and phone number. Enjoy a fall evening stroll with an environmental educator as we take in the fall color and experience the tranquility that the quieter autumn season. Hikes will be led by an environmental educator and will be shorter and family friendly including our four-legged friends! This program will be held on Wednesday 9/23 and Wednesday 9/30 beginning at 5:00 PM. To pre-register, email [masked] no later than 4:00 PM on Monday 9/21 for 9/23 hike and no later than 9/28 for 9/30 program. Please be sure to include the date and program title in your email. For example, “September 23 Evening Stroll” or “September 30 Evening Stroll.” In your email, let us know how many people in your group will be attending, first and last names, and phone numbers. Invasive Species Citizen Science Series [Email Pre-Registration Required]

NOTE: Email pre-registration is required. See below for details. Do you know the plants and insects in your backyard? Do you know which ones are native, introduced, or invasive? Have you heard of the predatory fish with teeth that can walk on land? Come learn why we worry about invasive species, identify some of the invasive species in the area, and how you can help by contributing to a national database of citizen science. Bring water, good shoes, bug spray, and if possible, install the app "iMapInvasives" onto your phone beforehand and make an account at https://imapinvasives.natureserve.org/imap/login.jsp - we will go over how to use this app during the program. This program will be held Saturdays (9/12, 9/19, 9/26) at 9 AM, 3 PM, and 9 AM (respectively). Each program date will cover a different category of invasive species and discuss different ways they can be prevented or managed. This program is designed for teens, but all ages are welcome to attend. Program meeting location will be shared when you pre-register. To pre-register, email [masked] by 4:00PM on the Wednesday before the program (9/9, 9/16, 9/23). Please be sure to include the date and program title in your email. For example, “9/12 Invasive Species Citizen Science.” In your email, let us know how many people will be attending for your family group as well as your first and last name and phone number.
