Michelle will lead one Nature Walk each month, on the second Wednesday, from 8 - 10 am, meeting at the Nature Center parking lot, East Beach.
Description: Come explore Sherwood Island State Park through the seasons. Your Connecticut & National Audubon Society trained guide, Michele Sorensen, will open doors to what’s going on in the marsh, on the beach and in the woods and fields of the park. Bring binoculars. Expect to walk at a gentle pace throughout the two hours. Contact leader for handicap accessible information: michelemsorensen at gmail.
All walks are free of charge, sponsored by Friends of Sherwood Island. Heavy rain re-schedules to next day.
Description: Bring your kayak and life vests for a safety inspection, and practice entering and exiting in waist deep water. When everyone has been safety-approved, we’ll take a one-hour paddle close to shore. Sea kayak professional Michele Sorensen, owner of Kayak Adventure LLC of Norwalk, an ACA certified instructor for fifteen years, will demonstrate safe wet exit, re-entry methods, basic strokes and assisted rescues. Paddlers with appropriate life vests and safety gear (sea kayaks: bring pump, sprayskirt and optional paddle float) will have supervised practice.
Please register by emailing michele at kayak-adventure.net Provide name, address, phone and kayak make/model for each attendee.
This event is free, sponsored by Friends of Sherwood Island.
