What we're about

This area group is now closed and is purely still here to redirect you to our main Friendship Group that covers all of the Norwest Districts of Sydney, specifically Hills/Parramatta, Hawkesbury/Blue Mountains & Blacktown/Penrith areas.

About Us:

The Friendship Group is for those aged 50'ish+ and is all about social interraction - getting out and about, having fun and making new friends.

It's about positive happy people who want to live life to the fullest and don't want to sit around the house all the time just wishing they had somewhere to go. So whether you are single or a couple the Friendship Group is for you.

Acknowledgement & Waiver:

Please read our Acknowledgment and Waiver page first. This can be found by clicking on the Pages tab at the top of the Groups home page on your web browser. You won't find it on the meetup app on your phone. The link is: http://www.meetup.com/Friendship-Group-50/pages/16794422/Acknowledgement_and_Waiver/ (This is just the usual butt-covering stuff required these days)

Important Information:

We also do things a little differently than most groups when it comes to Prepaid Events and how we are set up so please familiarise yourself with our protocols found on our Pages which you can get to by clicking the link or copy/pasting it to your browser. The link is: http://www.meetup.com/Friendship-Group-50/about/

You will find all our information pages by scrolling down to the bottom of that page under "Table of Contents" . There you will find payment/bank details, contact information and a whole lot of other stuff you may find useful.

Districts:
We cover the Hawkesbury, Hills, Blacktown, Nepean & Blue Mountains areas.

In 2016 we split the group into these areas however the cost and confusion of administrating the group this way became impractical. So in November 2017 we merged the areas back to one group however at the moment we still keep 3 groups so people who are looking in those areas can find us more easily.

Costs:
Joining the Friendship Group is free however, as of the start of 2017 we are asking that our members give an annual donation of $5. This fee is to cover our annual and administration & running costs. If there is any excess at the end of the year this will be used to offset a combined Friendship Group Christmas Party and Leadership Team Thank You Party.

Loyalty Club:
To thank you for your loyalty to our group we run a loyalty club which is drawn at our AGM each year. From 2017 this raffle is totally free. Download the free app from StampMe.com and simply claim your "stamp" using your smart phone at each event you attend. When you collect 10 stamps pick up your free raffle ticket from your host (or your organisers). If you don't have a smart phone we have regular loyalty cards as well just for you.

What's Happening In Our Area:
We have regular events that rotate within our 3 main districts. We also run special events that can be anywhere e.g. Hunter Valley Weekends, Pacific Cruises, Theatre & Concert events etc. Check out the area group Calendar for what's coming up in your area and the main Admin group for any special events.

Protocols:
We run things a little differently especially when it comes to Waitlisting so please take the time to read all the information on our Event Types (http://www.meetup.com/Friendship-Group-50/pages/Event_Types_-_Prepaid_and_Non_PrePaid/) and also, what I like to call, "the funny thing about common sense is it's not that common" page entitled Acknowledgement and Waiver (http://www.meetup.com/Friendship-Group-50/pages/Acknowledgement_and_Waiver/) (that's the legal bit saying you are responsible for yourself). Scroll down to the bottom of the About page to see more helpful information including our Contact Us (http://www.meetup.com/Friendship-Group-50/pages/Contact_Us/) & Bank Details (http://www.meetup.com/Friendship-Group-50/pages/Bank_Details/) sections. This information is only available to our members and will never be put up on the event pages for privacy reasons.

Carpooling:
If you need assistance in getting to any of the meetups or events contact your event host to see if they can help you with this. Carpooling can be fun!

Sharing the Fun:
It's also about getting involved and sharing the load too, rather than leaving it all to a select few. Having said that we would ask that our members try and host at least one event a year (your choice). It's not hard to do and you will have the full backup support of the leadership team AND you will earn extra points on our loyalty cards. Click here to find out How To Suggest A Meetup (http://www.meetup.com/Friendship-Group-50/pages/How_To_Suggest_A_Meetup/). Many hands make light work :) Not to mention making it more fun!

Training & Information Nights

We run regular weekly meetup training classes. We can provide you with help on how to use this meetup site and the phone Apps. Please contact Lyndi W for more details if you could use some assistance and to book a training session. These are held in the Hawkesbury District at the Marquise Bar in Windsor.

Finally...
It's YOUR Friendship Group :) Enjoy it Funstars!
