"One of the hardest things you will ever have to do my dear is grieve the loss of a person who is still alive." - Jeanette Walls, The Glass Castle
In my experience since my devastating breakup from a serious & deeply committed relationship, I've come to realize heartbreak is by far one of the hardest and most painful experiences a person will have to endure in this life. It can cause us to question everything we know about not just relationships and ourselves, but life in general. It tends to lead us into a misunderstood process of grief for which there seems to be little aid or resources available in this current day n age to help those who who thrusted into the immense pain that results from this experience.
Its for this reason this group has been formed as nobody should have to go through this difficult experience alone.
I think we can help each other – by taking the opportunity to listen to, support & cheer each other up amidst what we're each individually going through. This isn’t therapy, and doesn’t employ regimented steps. (Though both have their place!) Our focus will be to form a community of folks who know to be extra-kind to each other and to understand that we’re all on different paths, and in different stages of them. Let this be a space for us to get together, show up for one another, and talk ourselves through the rough patches. Whether its been days, weeks, months or even years, this group is a place where your thoughts, feelings and yes tears are welcome.
Hopefully through these MeetUps, we can all take something to help us along in our road to recovery.
