If you are new to Frome, this may be a good place to start meeting new people. We have a growing membership and a variety of events, hosted by organisers who live in and around Frome. We welcome everyone, whether they have just arrived or have been resident in and around Frome for many years. Its great to be able to share and enjoy the rich mix of creativity, interest and activities which exist in the town!
The familiar first Monday-of-the-Month quiz event in The Cornerhouse. For the June quiz we came a very good 3rd out of 10 teams, fielding just one team of 4, so this time a top placing is within sniffing distance!
I'm provisionally setting a maximum of 12 for this event. Martin the pub owner and quiz master asks an entry fee of £5 per table, which goes to the pub's favourite local charity, Active and In Touch, and a level playing field of just 4 players per team, so ideally I'd like 8 or 12 of us on the night.
You can read all about Active and In Touch.their many outreach and befriending activities in and around Frome here:
As well as the entry fee for the quiz itself can players please also help me meet the subscription fees I have to pay to the Meetup organisation. I'd be grateful for £2 from each player please, to cover the quiz entry fee of £5 a table, with the balance helping to reimburse me.
The quiz should start around 8:00 pm, and I look forward to welcoming you at the bar from around 7:30 ish. Can get crowded so please let's be early and ruthless in grabbing all the furniture we need!
The Cornerhouse offers a great selection of gins, a varied range of beers and ciders, and also good value trad pub pies and meals from around 6 pm.
Come and play board games. We're a friendly bunch and enjoy all sorts of games. Don't be shy and do bring something you'd like to play and be ready with simple instructions to get the rest of us up to speed!
Looking forward to seeing you all and a special welcome to any newcomers who sign up but we haven't yet met.
We'll be bringing Scrabble (Standard edition), Scrabble (Welsh edition), Dragon's Den, Dingbats, Pentago and packs of cards for Canasta or whatever as usual. But please do also bring along any other games you'd like to show us how to play!
As usual, please can players let me have a sub of £1 each to help reimburse me the membership costs of running our Frome Meetup group.
Please respond by changing your RSVP as early as you can if you find you're unable to come, but after 6pm on the night better if you call/txt me on[masked] instead.
