…and a lightning speaker and pizza, and a chance to meetup with some other awesome members of the community!

FEL events are really buzzing this year and we’re delighted to have confirmed the following talks for this evening.

How to learn Redux in 3 steps: Anna Doubkova
(Approximate talk length – 15-20 minutes plus Q&A)

Redux is one of the most popular tools these days to pick up when you're developing in React. Learning it can be a bit of a challenge though, especially if you haven't worked with flux and/or functional programming before. During this talk, you'll learn a little bit of both, and see how Redux is built using some key principles of these simple yet amazing ideas.

Bio: Anna is a passionate programmer with particular interest in React, Redux, and functional programming. She's currently working for Red Badger where she's using these tools, node and ES6 to develop modern Javascript applications.

Debugging JavaScript with Chrome DevTools: Matt Zeunert
(Approximate talk length – 15-20 minutes plus Q&A)

The talk demonstrates how to use advanced features of Chrome’s JavaScript debugger to find, understand, and fix code more effectively.

Bio: Matt is an independent front-end developer based in London. He focuses on JavaScript-heavy apps and has recently worked on websites for Orange and Volkswagen. Matt loves anything that makes code easier to understand, and blogs about developer tools and code readability.

The Internet; the first years: Kevin O’Shaughnessy
(Approximate talk length – 30 minutes plus Q&A)

Internet is a word that is often used interchangeably with world wide web, but there are important differences between the them. This talks begins with the birth of the Internet, and continues up until the early days of the world wide web.

Bio: Kevin is a Software Engineering graduate since 2001, and works as a senior web application developer. He is passionate about continuous learning and improvement. He runs the blog http://www.zombiecodekill.com and is also a regular guest blogger at outlierdeveloper.com and simpleprogrammer.com.

The meetup vibe will be boosted through sponsorship by those awesome guys at RecWorks which generously includes beer and pizza this evening. Thanks so much, guys – and thanks to the guys at Craft Rebellion for providing the drinks at heavily discounted prices!
