"BAJA BABY" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • to

  • Needs a location

  • It's time to hit the road and experience Baja again, one of the truly unique and beautiful places in the world with friendly people and incredible food, with unique entertainment, such as kayaking and snorkeling with seals and dolphins on the Sea of Cortez and petting whales while whale watching on the pacific ocean in San Ignacio Lagoon ! We'll be staying at resorts on private beaches for less than the cost of a motel 6 and eating like kings for the cost of peasants ! We'll be riding mostly highways but will also be doing some dirt and riding on beautiful beaches at sunset ! This will be for adventure bikes, anything like a BMW f650gs and larger "only" ! We will be visiting Mama Espinosa's, the first stop on the Baja 1000 race, Mulege with white sand Beaches, last year I sat on a cliff here and watched a 40' whale shark swim around the cove for a couple hours ! We will go whale watching out of San Ignacio Lagoon where we sleep in cabana's, we will adventure around the incredible town of Bahia De Los Angeles and stay with Mario an incredible man who has an earth home above the bay with incredible views of the bay ! We will discover pictographs and paintings in the caves around Loreto one of the oldest settlements in Baja and relax in Rosarito Beach at a private resort on the beach, I know this all sounds pretty boring and I recommend you don't go because this just isn't going to be any fun but if your into being bored, exploring ugly, bland areas and doing things most people never get to do than this just might be for you ! There will only be 10 bikes aloud on this trip as it will be much more manageable, thanks !!!!

Charles, for those of us who live quite a ways from Denver, are you going to publish the results from the planning meeting or would you recommend we fly in for this?

Hello all. Well, i'm not from Denver, although there a lot for work and ski. Hey, Tecate Border is just a two hour drive for me. Can i catch the highlights and meet everyone there at the meetup location? I see there is a 10 BIKE MAX for manageability, but i'm pretty low maintenance, follow instructions and handy in a knife fight.

    This sounds fun.
    Charles - couple questions
do you have a cutoff for number of riders ?
And is there concern over getting "stopped" with an expectation for being "paid off"? I've got friends who this happened to 10 years ago.

That doesn't happen in Baja and 10 to 12 bikes is the group I would like to have ! Right now there are 9 bikes and 12 people !

Hi folks, I'm new to the group. This sounds like an awesome opportunity. Just curious why the cc cutoff was set at 650 and higher. What conditions is that specific to?

    • Charles H.

As we will be riding a lot of highway and smaller cc bikes will be hard pressed to be able to keep up the pace with us and it would be very hard on them ! Last year we rode dual sports and the amount of area we want to cover in the time we have it wouldn't be wise to be on a bike that constantly can't be doing 70 to 75 for long distances. If we were doing more dirt on this trip it would be fine but we're not !

I'll likely ride with Kevin to the meet up point as we live a few miles apart.

I need to be in Ciudad Del Carmen on April 4th. I think I had once heard that there is a ferry that runs across the Gulf of California to mainland Mexico out of La Paz. Charles...can you estimate what day you will be at the southern-most point of this journey? Also, where will that be?

    October 25

    • Charles H.

      Yes there is !

      October 25

    • Charles H.

Loreto will be the Southern most part, which is 220 miles north of La Paz and we will be there on the 30th and 31st of March ! Which would easily give you time to get to your destination !
