First Talk: Unleashing React.js - Power and Simplicity presented by Jeff Barczewski

What is React.js and why is it so popular? What makes it different from the other libraries and frameworks? Learn how to create simple React.js components which can be reused and composed together to build powerful elegant dynamic web apps.

Jeff Barczewski is the founder of CodeWinds ( and Inspired Horizons, a training and consulting firm based in St. Louis, MO. In 2015, Jeff taught React.js at JSConf and has delivered talks on Node.js at Nodevember 2014 and 2015. Prior to starting CodeWinds, he was part of a small team that built the MasterCard foundation for ApplePay. Jeff has just published his first online training course, CodeWinds React.js Fundamentals.

Second Talk: Rookies App, a personalized baseball card creator presented by Joe Hainline

The idea is simple- Develop a mobile app that enables users to create, share, and professionally print personalized baseball cards. But how did Rookies go about developing the software and put it into production? What technology stack did they use and why?

Joe Hainline is a co-founder and CTO of Rookies Trading Cards, LLC ( For more than a decade, Joe has been working as a software developer and manager in St. Louis. He has developed embedded and simulator systems for Boeing and is currently working as a Product Manager of enterprise mobile applications for Asynchrony Labs. He holds an MBA from Washington University and BS in Computer Science from Truman State.
