Enjoy a relaxing weekend with the gang as we cruise around Kaneohe Bay and head out to the famous sand bar at noon. Ahu o Laka or "The Sand Bar" is a small sand islet which is exposed at low tide and awash at high tide. A "beach in the middle of the ocean," Ahu o Laka is a favorite gathering spot for boaters and other recreational users of Kaneohe Bay. We'll eat some lunch, play some frisbee, play some football, fish, snorkle, take a walk around the sand bar or just relax. Feel free to bring food to share among the group. On our way back (about 5:30 pm) we'll take a tour around Coconut Island, a fishing sanctuary for the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology. We plan to stay at the sand bar to at least 5:30 pm maybe 6:00, if you have to leave earlier do not RSVP!
Due to past problems with people RSVPing but not showing up, we must implement a collection process that requires you to pay at time of RSVP; there will be no refund as the money is used to pay for the boat rental. This is a first-come, first-served basis; you are reserved a seat once your payment is confirmed. Those without a Paypal account can make arrangements with the Host or the Captains. If you find out that you can't make it after RSVPing, you'll have to make arrangements on your own to find a person to replace you and pay you.
Lets meet up at Aikahi Shopping Center at 12:30 am (please be prompt) in front of Safeway. We will then move our cars to one of the side streets by Aikahi Elementary and car pool down to the Marina. Load up the boat and depart at 1:30 pm.
The fiesta boat capacity is limited to 10 per boat. We have two.
1. water/non-alcholic drinks. Alchohol not allowed on the boats.
2. swimming gear and sun protection.
3. personal folding chair (optional)
4. food/snacks. Feel free to bring whatever you want to share with the group.
5. snorkling/fishing gear/reef shoes/inflatibles (optional)
6. Swim at your own risk--If your not a good swimmer stay on the sandbar or on the boat.
