What we're about
Dance/exercise classes for those wanting to learn dances from the 60s & 70s to Soul, R&B, and Funk music. This class is especially designed for older people needing to move again, and for those who miss the wonderful music of the era. Young people also participate. They really enjoy learning the dance culture, the artists, and the original music. This class is created, trademarked, and taught by Actress, Ella Joyce, (from the TV Show "Roc"), who is originally from the authentic soul city of Detroit, and the South side of Chicago. Learn to do the Boogaloo, the Camel Walk, Monkey, mash potatoes, the Jerk, the bop, the slop, and more. The class dances SockHop style (in sweatsocks). It meets every Friday at 8PM for 1 hour in North Hollywood. It's strictly a follow-along class providing fun, recreation, and soul. Beginners welcome. Skills not necessary. Partners not needed, but feel free to bring friends or guests from out-of-town. Tourists especially seem to love the class because of its uniqueness. It's a fun hour of recreational dance & exercise routines to some of the greatest American music of our times. Be prepared to sweat. Bring your own bottled water & towel. Must sign a waiver to dance. Must be able to dance in socks. See website for more info. www.Funkacize.com.
