A Future of the Book event with Inkling

We are looking forward to another vibrant conversation sparked by the folks over at Inkling. Hope to see you later this month!

Leaders from Inkling's Content and Design teams will share their approach to building beautiful interactive books unbound by the constraints of the printed page, discussing the benefits (and challenges) of building structured content using open Web standards, scalable responsive design, and meaningful interactivity.

Inkling, founded in 2009, initially focused on publishing interactive textbooks for iPads.  The company has since broadened its scope to include other kinds of learning content (cookbooks, travel guides, how-to books, medical references, etc.) and other readers (Web, iPhone, Android, ePub).  Inkling's Habitat authoring environment is becoming the industry standard for producing beautiful, structured content at scale.

Speakers:

Nate Gillespie, Manager of Content Architecture

Norris Hung, Manager of Content Platform & Strategy

Kien Nguyen, Interactive Designer

Schedule:

6:00-7:00 p.m. : Mingling with pizza and beer generously provided by our hosts at Inkling

7:00-8:00 p.m. : Introductions and Presentation

8:00-8:30 p.m. : Questions, suggestions, and more mingling...

Presentations were great insightful as they touched on how they approached and solved (real) difficult problems and the team members in attendance were engaging.

As excited as I am about this evening's event, I'm under the weather and have opted not to share germs with all of you lovely people. Perhaps there might be materials posted on this Meetup site after meeting (she asks hopefully) ...
