GDG Reading and Thames Valley - August Developers Gathering

Come and join us for an evening filled with short and exciting tech talks about Google technologies delivered by local developers. What’s more, a Googler is coming down for the evening!. We are also having pizzas, drinks and looking forward to network and exchange ideas with other developers.

Here is the schedule for the evening:

6:00 - 6:20pm - Introduction

Local Googler Mark Masterson will be talking about the developers and startups support programs provided by Google, such as Google Developer Groups (https://developers.google.com/groups/) (GDGs), Google Developer Experts (https://developers.google.com/experts/) (GDEs) and Launchpad (https://developers.google.com/startups/). Mark will also be providing a brief overview of the highlights of Google IO 2015.

6:20 - 6:50pm - Turbocharging startup development with Google App Engine
Steve Cornish CTO of Squirrol (a soon-to-launch Social Network for collectors) will be explaining Squirrol and its architecture. Squirrol is being built using Google App Engine services.

Google App Engine ( https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs ) is a Platform as a Service that lets developers build and run applications on Google’s infrastructure.

6:50 - 7:05pm - Building the modern Web using Polymer 1.0

Ben Thomas, development team lead at eValue Investment Solutions, is going to be explaining the basics of Polymer 1.0 library and the benefits of building applications using Web components.

The Polymer library ( https://www.polymer-project.org/1.0/ ) is designed to make it easier and faster for developers to create great, reusable components for the modern web.

7:05pm - 7:20pm Google Bigquery, processing big data without the infrastructure

Omer Dawelbeit, IT Consultant & founder of officema.biz (http://officema.biz/) will be covering the basics of Google Bigquery and how developers can leverage its capabilities in analysing BI (Business Intelligence) and IoT (Internet of Things) data.

Google Bigquery ( https://cloud.google.com/bigquery/what-is-bigquery ) is an Infrastructure as a Service that enables interactive analysis of massively large datasets.
