Working with JavasCript and jQuery

We're teaming up with GDG Toronto in our first of four parts which will culminate in a road-trip to T.O. for a hackjam!

This first event is a primer on JavaScript and jQuery. We've got a few great tips and tricks as well as a ton of best-practice advice for everyone's favourite language: JS.

NOTE: BRING YOUR LAPTOP FOR THIS EVENT. WE'LL BE WORKING THROUGH CODE TOGETHER! Github account + favourite text editor would be awesome, too.

Be sure to attend each event in order to have a good handle on the hackjam (unless you're some sort of JavaScript master, that is...!)

See you then!

I've updated the code to be much nicer to newcomers to JavaScript. Pull the latest changes and bask in its glory.

Hey! I wanted to let everyone know that there is a JSAnywhere KW meetup happening soon. If you're digging jQuery, you'll definitely want to join this meetup and attend.

Is this particular meet up only for those intending to go to the Toronto event later?

No, if you have an interest in jQuery and JS, then come along!

Here's the document on what we're covering tonight and how to get started. Install the software ahead of time if you have it, if not, we can do it while we go along.

Make sure to bring your laptop to this event as it's in the codejam format -- all of us working together on a common Github repository. We'll be sharing my screen on the projector, as well.

I haven't seen JQuery before. I hope you guys take your time with this.

Do you want a short a 10 minute what is JQuery? Though, I suspect you may get more out of the w3cschool and we can have people around to ask questions of. We could have those annoying but helpful - Javascript / C / Java / Perl in place of names for people to ask.

As part of my comment above the w3cschools are free and have excellent reference and examples http://www.w3schools....

It's too much of a commitment for me to take the drive up to Waterloo that many times for thin client development.
