Hour of Code! 1 Day Session Ages 6-9

We're celebrating Computer Science Education Week and would love you to join us!
Each activity is self directed and consists of stock curriculum with Trish there to guide your child.  Want to do it at home?  All activities are available at: http://csedweek.org/

Hour of Code without a computer!
The participants will be taken through a series of exercises and guided to "think like a computer".They will be creating symbolic computer instructions on paper and solving problems that involve iteration and sequence using a symbol-based language on paper.  No previous experience required.

Computer Science Education Week is observed each year, in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).

    Hey Cindy,
I'm afraid I won't be able to get Alba there tomorrow. :-( If there's someone else that can use the ticket, I'll be happy to donate it. :-)

Hi Guys, I like the CSED week offerings because they do similar things in different ways. With the kids it's important not necessarily to code a program and run it, but to understand logical thinking and the concepts of sequence, selection, iteration. I'd like to make sure that everyone knows that there are no computers involved this class. The kids will be encouraged to "Think like a robot" and will use a narrow selection of symbols to perform a task.
