Does this sound familiar? You are at the podium, speechless. No word is coming out; worse, nonsensical words are coming out that even you, the speaker, do not understand. The audience gives you the blank stare. The awkward silence is unbearable. You feel terrible and want to hide. Chances are you have been there. We all have. Public speaking evokes fear; but like all other skills, it can be learned and developed, and the fear subdued.
At Toastmasters, public speaking is all we do. This is GGU Toastmasters, a non-profit local chapter of Toastmasters International. We offer a step-by-step approach to becoming a better speaker. We have helped over a thousand people since 1999.
We meet every Monday (except holidays) between 6:30PM and 7:30PM in the 18th floor training center at McKesson (One Post Street, directly above Montgomery BART Station). We are open to the public, but we ask that you RSVP before 11:00 am on Monday. We meet in a secure building. Please come experience the journey of becoming a more effective communicator.
