Founded in 1968, Greenville Natural History Association (GNHA) is a non-profit volunteer-run hiking club which welcomes newcomers to join us on the trails. You will enjoy the best that nature can "serve up" as the trails will take you through land protected by our state and federal parks and nature preserves. We offer lots of hikes on the Foothills and Palmetto trails. Most of our events are "day hikes" with several weekend trips each year. We specialize in hikes that challenge all skill levels and fullfills the various interests of our hikers. Our membership includes families, married couples and singles of all ages. We are a "leave no trace" group that teaches conservation and respect for our forests, mountains, and wet lands. Our club has lots of active hikers of all ability levels.
We have decided to use this on-line platform as a way to bring our hiking activities to the attention of the "Meetup world."
Please view the "CALENDAR" to see a detailed list of the hikes that are currently scheduled. Click on the "PAGES" tab for a complete explanation of our club procedures and "Hike Rating System." This is a guide to help you determine which hikes might be suitable for you. First time hikers are encouraged to call the hike leader.
We welcome you to join GNHA Hiking Club as a temporary “Guest Hiker.” Annual Dues are $5.00 per household. Please refer to the PAGES section for dues payment information and go to greenvillehiking.com to pay dues online via Paypal or Credit Cards.
Our club plans and publishes Saturday and Sunday hikes year around. Our club offers Wednesday hikes too! The Wednesday VVS hikes are published on Meetup. Other Wednesday hiking events are not published on Meetup; rather, the Hike Coordinators develop these hikes only days in advance and they are published to select members on the email list. To learn more about Wednesday hiking opportunities and how to get on a Wednesday email list, please contact Club President Jerry Miller.
