ACTION NEEDED:
PLEASE send this article to YOUR STATE and FEDERAL Legislators and to your local school board members with a simple statement against implementing Common Core Standards and Curriculum in our state education system.

Suggestion:

Dear _______,

Gov. Romney has taken a stand AGAINST Common Core Standards in our schools.
http://caffeinatedtho...

Common Core Standards and Curriculum will create a "one size fits all" education system and nationalize our schools. Our schools must be controlled by parents and local resources, NOT by the federal government or even a consortium of state officials such as the National Governors Association.

States have been enticed into adopting these Common Core Standards by promises of waivers from the NCLB (No Child Left Behind) law. In reality, the costs of implementing these standards will reach Billions of dollars for each state.

Please stand up for our children and immediately take action to remove all current or future plans for the implementation of Common Core Standards and Curriculum in our schools.

Additional background info from Mary today:

- A FEW TEA PARTY GROUPS HAVE BEEN SPEAKING OUT ABOUT COMMON CORE... IT DID GET OVERSHAWDOWED BY THE CHOICE DEBATE. "LETS NOT GO THERE...."
BUT LOUISIANA HAS SIGNED ON TO COMMON CORE... AND WE HAVE TO FOCUS ON EXITING ... OTHERS TEA PARTY GROUPS AROUND THE COUNTRY ARE BEATING THIS DRUM LOUDER TOO!
http://truthinamerica...

PATRIOTS, I ASK YOU TO BECOME EDUCATED ON COMMON CORE.
WE NEED EDUCATION REFORM BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF TURNING OUR VOICE "COMPLETELY" TO WASHINGTON DC.

KEEP IT LOCAL AND KEEP IT EXCEPTIONAL

This will explain the Common Core Standards Initiative (CCSI). Not an endorsement of Romney.

“Romney Gets It”

By Donna Garner

9.25.12

As co-authors of numerous articles in which we have pointed out the blatant overreach by the Obama administration into the public schools through the Common Core Standards Initiative (CCSI), Henry W. Burke and I are elated that today Mitt Romney took a firm stand against the CCSI.

Please see today’s two articles entitled (1) “Mitt Romney Takes Stand Against Common Core at Education Nation Summit” by Shane Vander Hart (posted further on down the page) http://caffeinatedtho...

and (2) “Romney: No Federal Support for Common Core” by Alyson Klein, EducationWeek -- http://blogs.edweek.o...

One of the greatest problems with the CCSI (which includes Race to the Top -- RTTT) is the cost that will be borne by states’ taxpayers. States will spend far more to implement the CCS standards than they will receive in RTTT funds.

Quotes from our 9.23.12 article – “Don’t Let the DOE Nationalize the Schools in Your State” -- http://educationviews...

Only 13 states (12 states plus D. C.) received more than $155 per student, and 28 states received less than $155 per pupil. The rest of the states received zero dollars! State administrators and their staffs spent countless hours filling out the RTTT applications, aligning their education policies to meet the requirements in the application, and then those states received a pittance per pupil or no funding at all from the RTTT.

So far, 46 states have adopted the Common Core Standards but only 13 states…received sufficient grant awards to place them above $100 per student.

Some of the items that contribute to the high cost of CCS implementation include: new textbooks, outside consultants, training costs and teachers’ time away from their classrooms, substitute teachers during training sessions, updated assessments, and expensive computer systems.

The California Department of Education estimates that it will cost the state $760 million to implement the Common Core standards; outside estimates place the cost at nearly $1.6 billion. Washington State estimates the implementation of CCS will cost $300 million. Nationwide, Common Core implementation will cost a whopping $30 billion!

Mitt Romney “gets it” and strongly supports the right of states and communities to determine the curriculum standards that their public school students should be taught – not the Obama administration with its social justice agenda.

Warning: [The arrows mean “lead to.”]

National standards → national assessments → national curriculum → national teacher evaluations with teachers’ salaries tied to students’ test scores → teachers teaching to the test each and every day → national indoctrination of our public school children → national database of students and teachers

One of the greatest problems IS ITS ANTI AMERICAN SOCIALIST AGENDA and the other the cost of CCSI (which includes Race to the Top -- RTTT) that will be borne by states, taxpayers. States will spend far more to implement the CCS standards than they will receive in RTTT funds.

CHARTER SCHOOLS ARE: A public-private partnerships – for profit schools!

INTENT: Taxpayer-funded schools with unelected boards leaving no room for parents/voters in the board rooms! Taxpayers will have NO say on anything!

HOW: Legislators passing Charter school bills with less & less oversight!

GOAL: Total FEDERAL control with taxpayer $$ which is SOCIALIZED education!

PARENT EMPOWERMENT BILL – Is NOT What It Seems!
