Fundraising reports for the first quarter are in for the State Treasurer's election candidates. Angele Davis raised the most, followed by Shroeder, then Stokes, and then Riser. Both Shroeder and Stokes have loaned themselves a lot of $$$ for the election. Shroeder has the most in the bank.

FACTS ABOUT THE LOUISIANA STATE TREASURER YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE THE ELECTION:

The LA state Treasurer has NO CONTROL over the state budget... ZERO, ZIP, NADA!!! The budget is determined entirely by the state legislators and the Governor and passed into law.

The Treasurer does have a big soap box as a statewide elected official and can shed light and expose what he sees as waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending. Senator John Kennedy was pretty good at this during his tenure as Treasurer... but no one in government is required to listen or ACT upon these revelations and facts about the budget and spending in Louisiana.
Obviously, we want to elect a true FISCAL CONSERVATIVE as Treasurer so that his evaluation and exposure of budget facts and spending will reflect conservative ideals like small (limited) government that doesn't require massive " revenue" (ie taxes); and fiscal responsibility that doesn't fund wasteful , unnecessary, politically motivated spending.
We should also want a Treasurer who is outspoken and NOT afraid to speak loudly about our fiscal situation and challenge those like Gov JBE and other "tax and spend" progressive liberals and socialists who are happy to spend our hard earned money to buy votes and fund outrageous entitlement programs.

You can be assured, that if a conservative wins the election, Gov JBE will characterize most anything he says as "partisan politics" . However, the Treasurer also talks to the People..... and some listen.

Some FACTS:

The State Treasury administers the state's centralized cash management system to receive, disburse, invest and safely keep all monies required by law to be held by the Treasury. This cash management system uses a central depository bank account to receive check deposits, Automated Clearing House (ACH) credits, wire transfer credits, other deposits, and transfers from other bank accounts. Last fiscal year, the Treasury processed 13 million deposit items through the state's central depository bank account.

The Treasury also relies on the central depository bank to provide cash management reporting software in order to earn the best possible return on investments while providing daily liquidity the state requires to meet its obligations. The bank provides a daily report of investment activity that is critical in reconciling the Treasury's investment portfolio.
