Greater New Orleans Tea Party Message Board ELECTIONS 2019 .......ROAD TO VICTORY › OCT 14, 2017: 3 CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDENTS ON ALL BALLOTS

EVERYONE IN LOUISIANA... will have 3 Constitutional amendments on their ballot for the Oct 14, 2017 election (early voting starts Sept 30)

HERE is the PAR analysis of the 3 amendments

IMO...... vote NO on all three!!! It is NOT necessary to put any of these amendments into our state CONSTITUTION.

MY thoughts:

Amendment#1 VOTE NO

" I agree with PAR....... "A better approach would be a constitutional amend-
ment allowing statutory controls, giving the Legislature the ability to fine tune the exemption over time. This method would eliminate the need for further constitutional amendments about CWIP just to make small adjustments. This amendment would negate the authority of assessors and the Tax Commission on how to handle CWIP. Assessors are locally elected and need flexibility to handle situations posed by different construction projects. This amendment would tie their hands." !!!

WHY do we have these local Assessors and Tax Commissions etc IF we are going to take power away from from "Local" entities (closest to the People) ???
STOP cluttering and amending our state constitution. Legislators do this so they can blame the people for voting for rotten ideas that favor certain constituencies, businesses, lobbyists...etc.

Amendment #2 VOTE NO

STOP with the "special exemptions"........ this is getting ridiculous. Yes, we love our "first responders" and what they do..... but every spouse of of anyone who dies is faced with similar challenges. Another slippery slope of exemptions that continue to pop up year after year.

Amendment #3 VOTE NO

This is just one more "dedication of funds" .......and if fixes NOTHING!!!

"This amendment is a symbolic gesture that does nothing to improve the poor condition of the state’s transportation system. It creates a fund with no funds. More specifically, the amendment does nothing to prevent the Legislature from again choosing to fund State Police with Trust Fund dollars in the future, although current law caps the amount."

AND.... it clutters up the Constitution with more worthless crap!!

GLAD I read this! We WERE going to vote YES on all 3 figuring less tax for somebody is better than nothing, but your explanations make more sense - THANKS!
