LA SEC OF STATE ELECTION NOV 6, 2018

Qualifying July 18-20
Early voting Oct 23-30
Open Primary Nov 6. Run off Dec 8

Unfortunately, our conservative minded Secretary of State (for the last 8 years) Tom Schedler, recently resigned his position. Mr . Schedler has been a valiant protector of our voting rights and fought valiantly against Obama and his attempts to intimidate voters by demanding personal information be turned over to the Federal government. Mr. Schedler was also a tireless watchdog for safe and legal voting in the state. He set up many safeguards to protect voting integrity.

We now have an interim Secretary of State, Kyle Ardoin, and an election will be held this fall .

One probable candidate for SOS is state Rep. Paul Hollis (R, St Tammany) who will be our speaker for our June meeting. Rep Hollis is the one who has been sponsoring the bill to reduce our threshold for votes for recall elections. This year's bill HB 54, has PASSED the legislature and will go to the Governor for a signature!!!!

Other possible candidate for SOS
State Rep Julie Stokes,,, who is not a conservative, has already announced she is running
Former state Senator, A.G. Crowe
State Sen. Gerald Long

More of who might run for Secretary of State and some "early impressions"

IMO.... I think this is an extremely important race because we cannot afford to compromise our voting rights in any way!!! Otherwise, I agree with most of the above article. NOT a fan of Rep Stokes!!

The Secretary of State must be a principled conservative because....
"The secretary of state shall head the department and shall be the chief election officer of the state. He shall prepare and certify the ballots for all elections, promulgate all election returns, and administer the election laws, except those relating to voter registration and custody of voting machines. '
To me, this is the most important function of this office. Remember when George Soros
tried to BUY leftist Democrats into these positions???? We cannot compromise our voting rights!!
FYI: Duties of the SOS: https://www.sos.la.go...

**** Nine candidates are in this race...pretty much insuring that the top 2 vote getters on Nov 6 will go to a run off election on Dec. 8. It is possible we could get 2 Republicans into the runoff.
The winner will only be filling the unexpired term of former SOS Schedler which ends in Jan 2018. Next November 2018, we will vote AGAIN for SOS. In that race...the incumbent could have the advantage.

Viable candidates for SOS election on Nov6 . Others are either Dems or there is no real info available about their campaigns.
GNOTP does NOT endorse.
This is my research and MY opinions. Please feel free to share yours.

MY CHOICE: REP RICK EDMONDS
Most conservative
Most dedicated to protecting our voting process and rights
Fiscal conservative... won't over spend!
Knowledgeable and capable of running the business registration process run by SOS without undue government regulation
Currently in LA state legislature as Representative for District 66
I have had several long personal discussions with Edmonds. I am impressed with his knowledge of voting issues and concerns not just on a state level but nationwide. He will be proactive in protecting our voting rights and process. He answered every question I had and brought up many pertinent concerns and solutions. He has done his homework....
Has good website with clear platform..... https://www.rickedmon...

AG Crowe
Republican. Would likely do good job.
IMO, Seems more concerned about business regulation by SOS than voting duties, based on his campaign info, interviews, etc.
Has business and data background.....capable of running registration functions of SOS
Really nice guy who doesn't like conflict. Little too much compromise and crossing the aisle in legislature IMO.
Did help us in the initial fight against Common Core as Senator in the legislature... was the first to step up!
Former state Senator in District 1.
Good website with platform: https://agcrowe.com/i...

Audio of interview with Moon Griffon https://www.youtube.c...

Heather Cloud
Mayor of Turkey Creek
Successfully challenged voter fraud in election ...and WON.

DEFINITE "NO" for the office of SOS

Rep Julie Stokes
https://www.votejulie... (can't find info on a "platform" ???)
Her voting and behavioral record in the State legislature has been Leftist, progressive at best. She is a RINO ...definitely NOT a conservative. She has voted FOR (and frequently sponsored) tax INCREASE legislation. She was on the Governor's Tax Workforce... a group that shoud be called "101 Ways to raise taxes" !! Stokes voted initially for Gov JBE's DEMOCRAT choice for Speaker of the House even tho the House is controlled by a REPUBLICAN majority.
She also voted for and sponsored a bill to prohibit adults (18-20 year olds) from working in dance clubs. Any conservative would know that this was unconstitutional.... and , sure enough, after it was passed...it was challenged and found unconstitutional. Govt should not be telling ADULTS where they can or cannot work!
Julie Stokes supported Common Core. Mary and I spent hours meeting with her and providing info hoping she would help us STOP CC.

Julie Stokes has been endorsed by the Leftist Times Picayune and Gambit, and Black Caucus Leftist Democrat State Rep. Ted James. These peeps do NOT support conservatives!!

Also, Rep Stokes recently came out in favor of Automatic Voter Registration.....AVR makes voter registration “opt-out” instead of “opt-in”—eligible citizens who interact with government agencies are automatically registered to vote or have their existing registration information updated, unless they affirmatively decline. AVR is a construct of the LEFT leaning social justice group the Brennan Center for Justice
This would wreak havoc with our Election RECALL process which requires a percentage of "registered " voters sign a recall form to start the recall of an elected official.

Kyle Ardoin
Current interim SOS , appointed when former SOS Schedler resigned. Ardoin was to be interim for about 7 months until new SOS could be elected and take office in Jan 2019.

Main reason I do NOT support him is that he repeatedly...even up to the last day of qualifying, said he would NOT run as candidate for SOS. He told the People, he told other candidates, he told the press.... and then he signed up to run!! I don't trust him!!!

Also, as INTERIM SOS...he was pushing thru some very premature and expensive contracts to replace our voting machines.
Voting machine contract controversy: https://www.theadvoca...

More controversy...did Ardoin use taxpayer money to "campaign" using his position as SOS??

Disappointing results in the LA SOS election....
Runoff election Dec 8 between Kyle Ardoin (R) and Gwen Collins-Greenup (D) Early voting Nov. 24 through Dec. 1 (except Sunday, Nov. 25) from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

This is what happens when we have the ridiculous OPEN PRIMARY system and can't have a Party primary to choose our Republican candidate. Now we must vote for Ardoin to be sure the DEMOCRAT does not win.
https://www.nola.com/...

There were 3 better and more conservative Republican candidates than Ardoin in this Louisiana Secretary of State election....Edmonds(11%), Crowe(5%0, and Cloud(5%).
Scroll up for previous post for more details.

The DNC and Soros might pour big $$$ into the Dem candidate coffer. NOT GOOD.
We must NOT have a Dem SOS controlling our voting process.
Going to have to vote for Ardoin!!

Bright spot..... Julie Stokes (RINO) did not make the runoff.

You can check state election results here: look at "statewide" for results in SOS election
https://voterportal.s...

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Runoff December 8.
This will likely be an extremely LOW TURNOUT election!!
