Walk the Seven Sisters "the finest coastal walk in England"
Starting in the town of Seaford on the Sussex coast, the classic white cliffs walk is one of the finest coastal walks in England with views of the stunning white cliffs of the Severn Sisters and Beachy Head ending on the promenade of the seafront town of Eastbourne.
Meeting point, 08.45 London Victoria outside WH Smiths near platform 16. We will be catching the 09.17 train to Lewes then the 10.28 from Lewes to Seaford ariving in Seaford at 10.46
Cost, £13.00pp four people traveling together Make sure you turn up early to be included in the group ticket, please see below. From Eastbourne we have to get a suplimentary ticket back to Lewes which is £5.20 Organisers fee £5. Total £23.20.
Walk Length. 23km 14m. 7hrs walking time with and an hour or so for breaks. The walk is on good paths but includes some steep climbs please ensure you can keep up a good pace over this distance.
From Seaford railway station we walk to the seafront and initially follow the Vangard Way, passing Martello Tower then climbing up to Seaford head. Now we descend down to Cuckmere Haven where we head inland following the Cuckmere river to the village of Exceat where we join the South Downs Way. Entering the Seven Sisters Country Park we climb up to the trig point at Cliff End the first of our hills. From here we follow the cliff edge path over the famous Seven Sisters cliffs to Birling Gap. After Birling Gap there is a steep climb past Belle Tout a former lighthouse and onto the spectacular Beachy Head.
This affords us with superb views back over the Sisters you can peek over cliff edge to see the new lighthouse which is due to be decommissioned. from here we descend to Eastbourne and follow the promenade to the pier.
What to bring.
Appropriate walking clothes and footwear, hiking boots or similar
