Leaving Haslemere the trail joins the Greensand Way and descends into Ploecat Valley, we follow the valley floor then climb up to Hindhead Comon to traverse the west side of the Puchbowl.
The ridge descends to a spring at Highcombe bottom, from here we walk to the village of Thursley which according to local legend was a place where the Norse God Thor worshipped.
From Thursley a gradual ascent leads us to Gibbert hill a, view point with far reaching Views across the Weald and the second highest point in Surrey. The hill has a gruesome past a Celtic Cross was erected to dispel the fears of local residents about evil spirits.
Following the main ridge of the downs we gradually descend back to Haselmere where you are welcome to join us for drinks and something to eat or take the train home.
