Join us for a wander along the River Wey, a beautiful river walk which takes us past some stunning historic sites including poet John Donne’s summer house and Newark Priory.
Suitable for beginners, those new to hiking, or wanting a leisurely walk (although please ensure you wear hiking boots/shoes for this one).
We’ll take the train to West Byfleet where we’ll walk down to join the river as it wends towards Guilford. We'll make our way skirting past the famous RHS Garden Wisley and the beautiful old Elizabethan house which was poet John Donne’s Summer House.
We’ll continue on to (the wonderfully named) Send where we'll stop for pub lunch. We’ll have an hour here, so everyone can grab a bite to eat at the pub (or you can bring a packed lunch if you prefer) The pub has a lovely big garden overlooking the river so perfect for a sunny day.
After lunch, we’ll continue onwards along the river via some lovely locks and keepers cottages after which we’ll catch sight of the beautiful ancient Newark Priory.
