So as you guys can probably tell, I'm introducing a new meetup event into the mix -yeah, it's Thrifty Thursday! The goal being, there's usually not a lot of fun stuff on the meetup calender for Thursday nights - besides the typical bars and stuff - and those get pricey. The premise is to find something fun to do at a discounted rate and spendless than $20 for the whole night. I've gotta do my homework on this one - so bear with me! But without further ado, here is our first event!
Despite my irrational fear of Ferris Wheels and other carnival rides, I still come out to the State fair every year. This year, let's visit the NC State Fair - And donate canned goods for a worthy cause!
Fairgoers can bring four cans of Food Lion brand food to the N.C. State Fair on Thursday, Oct. 18, to exchange for one free admission ticket.
Food Lion Hunger Relief Day at the Fair is one of the largest one-day canned-food drives in the state, held each year to benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. In the 17-year history of the event, more than 2 million pounds of food have been donated by fairgoers.
