28 April 2014 Steering Committee Notes
    (in 3 parts)

(List of Attendees are available somewhere)

Hi there and welcome. (or something to that effect)

    Brief Update
Vic recommended a change to Steering Committee hangouts. I think he recommended that it be held the next Tuesday following a meetup.
I think he also recommended that all meetup events should end by 7pm or something to that effect to allow everyone the time to do something after.

    May Meetup: Gearman

June Meetup: Joint meetup with Joomla and how they've separated framework that play well with others frameworks.

    July: Vic away

August : Meetup will focus on book (that I didn't get the name or the author)

Peter Meth wants to have a talk about something important.

Thanks Mark, I really appreciate your work on this. Just to clarify, the 7pm thing was starting the meetups at 7pm not to finish by 7pm. Peter Meth's thing here is hosting the August meetup with Brandon Savage's "The Crafting Code Tour". I didn't have Brandon's name on hand during the hangout.

Doing homework for a meetup? Code Spelunking was done in the past and unfortunately did not turn out well. SOLID was over 3 months and very long. Live coding really lengthens a meetup.

Vic: about recruitment of volunteers. Must have something at beginning of meetup -> coloured stickers, nametags, etc to get everyone's attention.
Alfred: slides at beginnning with running slideshow of sponsors and various things that can help with that. Alfred is putting together a talk on SOLAR and revealJS for slideshow? That sounds like a viable solution to put a mini JS slideshow on a stick to play through a browser.

Allan is the author of a great book. Everybody seems to like the video recording suggestion. Youtube is an option to host the recording. It will require one or more volunteers willing to put in the time, equipment and setup. Thank you all.
    See you next Tuesday.

(Apologies if you were misquoted. Please update as you see fit.)

    Suggestions:

Alfred Suggestion 1. video tape meetings (Matthew Potter of HTML5 group does it) so that it is available immediately after event.

Concern 1) how many people will NOT attend. (Having a beer at home watching a meetup is relaxing but anti-social.) But it is great for people who can't physically be at the meetup.

Concern 2) Sometimes it is hard to find speakers that will get on camera.

Alfred Suggestion 2. more tutorial sessions. Traits and SOLID was great and so was Peter Meth's online Tutorial. Online is a great option. More topics on teaching elements of the language would be great.
Vic says that response to the Meth's teaching tutorial was amazing (Worldwide response.)

Alfred suggestion: giving away tickets for other events? FITC, etc ..., Finding things to raffle is good and Allan is willing to put up his book.
