I need your help

Hi Everyone,

This will be a different kind of email than I usually send. I am sending this because I need your help with my new business venture called Delvia. I know from experience there is no one better to ask for help than the GTA PHP community.

If you were at my talk at the recent meetup you will know that this summer I started a software development oursourcing company with a few of my friends and past colleagues. The idea is to build several high performing (scrum) teams that we can rent out to businesses who have development needs.

I have seen that many companies have problems with finding, training and keeping good talent and are also paying recruiters lots of money to bring them candidates. I read someplace that it takes on average 3 months to fill a software development position with the right candidate and can cost upwards of $20,000 in recruiting fees to do so. I want to offer an alternative to that model where Delvia will find good developers, help them stay on top of technology, make sure they are happy and given everything they need to succeed. When we go into a business, we want to be productive from day 1.

So, with that being said there are two areas where I can use help:

Firstly I need referrals. I am primarily a developer and as such am not so comfortable at being a salesman (cold calling, gathering and developing leads, etc). So, if the company where you work needs help reaching an upcoming deadline or perhaps has some short term projects that they don't have the inhouse resources to complete, please let me know. If not your company, maybe you know of someone or have been approached by someone looking for help. It doesn't matter how big or small, send them my way and I will see what I can do.

The second area is obviously that as I get more contracts I will need people who can do the work and become partners in Delvia's success. So, in the short term, we need contractors and freelancers available to go into projects and hit the ground running. In the longer term (probably by the end of this year), we will be hiring full time staff.  We don't have an office so I think most of this staff would be work-from-home.  I'm a software developer myself, so I know the types of salaries that are the norm for senior developers.  Let's just say I'm not going to insult any senior devs with less than a 6 figure salary.

So, that's it for now. I apologize for the commercial nature of this email on a community group, but a big part of this venture for me is so I can devote more time and resources to giving back to the community and helping as many people as I can to be mentally healthy, happy and successful in their careers. If you can help me with this, I feel we will all benefit.

PS. here's a link to the Delvia website http://www.delvia.com.

Thanks so much,
Peter
