Thanks to Peter Meth for inviting th GTA PHP User Group to join his East Toronto Web Design Meetup group on May 8th, for what I'm sure will be a topic of great interest to those of you who are working on learning PHP.

Peter is hosting this meetup, and I expect to be there, but scheduling weekends for non-family functions is never popular in my household. I'll definitely do my best to attend!

Here's the description from East Toronto Web Design Meetup's page:

Hi All,

Continuing in the new Web Design Lecture format of our meetup, I have booked the library for a lecture.

This time we will be looking at PHP & MySQL, 2 technologies which can be used to create virtually any type of web application you can think of, from shopping carts to content management systems to social media websites. Many of the web designers I have met are not familiar with these technologies, but wish they were. It's really not that difficult and we hope to give you a solid foundation that will help you understand these widely used technologies and how they work together with the web design skills you already have.

There is a lot to cover, so I have decided to separate this lecture into 2 parts. This is the first part. The second part will be occurring on May 29th.

One of our members, Larry, has graciously volunteered to conduct this lecture for us.

Again, I will be supplying refreshments such as sandwiches, cookies and coffee. We will try to start the presentation at 10am sharp as I don't want to run into time constraints. We have the room until 1pm.

A voluntary donation of $5 would be appreciated. You may give this to me at the meetup.

Hope to see you all there.
