Oidhche nam Bàrd 2019: Gaelic Poetry Night
Gàidhlig Photomac welcomes the new year with our second annual Oidhche nam Bàrd, a celebration of Scotland's great Gaelic poets featuring readings and songs in a relaxed atmosphere with appropriate food and libations! This event will be appropriate for Gaelic learners at all levels. There's no charge to attend: You may order dinner and drinks. We'll start at 5 pm with deochan agus còmhradh (drinks and conversation), followed by an introduction to Scottish Gaelic at 5:30 pm. At 6 pm we'll order supper, and at 6:15 pm begin our poetry program! We'll introduce you to several Gaelic poets or bàird, and we'll also hear from members of our group who want to share poetry with you. Expects songs and music, too, and we'll toast the memory of ALL the bàird! Because of space, we're limiting this MeetUp to 25 attendees, so claim your seat now. We hope this will become an annual event. Questions? You may e-mail Liam directly at [masked]. The exact location will be announced.

    What we're about

We are a Scottish Gaelic Learning Community in the Washington, DC-area (writ large), open to all with an interest in the Celtic language of Scotland (and its sister languages, Irish and Manx). Our meetups are typically social events geared to help you learn and use Scottish Gaelic outside the classroom.

Since November 2016, we have held more than 25 meetups, including regular Scottish Gaelic song workshops, conversation groups, a poetry night, picnic outing and immersion days. We've organized events for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners, and we're interested in helping learners find teachers.
