We had such a good time at Silver Springs when we went in June and several members asked if I would post it again. Well here it is.
First before too many details, note you have to reserve your kayak or canoe (details below).
This time, go ahead and check in at the registration (next to the boat launch). In June, we had such a large group going into the water, it took some time to get everyone launched. If you are new to the group and not sure you know who is part of us and who isn't, be sure to let me know and I will look for you at check in. Once in the water, it is a leisurely paddle to complete the loop in 2 hours. No need to hurry.
If you want to car pool, say so in the discussion message area.
Admission is $2 to the park.
We will do the 2 hour kayak or canoe trip (The Loop - so no shuttles) Launching around 9am and returning at 11am.
Prices for a single kayak is $20 but there are many other choices besides the average kayak. This includes life vest. It will be your responsibility to reserve the boat but it is easy to do at their web site:
Or, if you prefer, call them at (352)[masked].
After 2 hours on the water, we will have lunch. The park cafe has a separate room off to the left of the counter (if facing the counter). This is where we congregated last time and it was perfect for our large group - allowing us easy conversation and it is air-conditioned! Hopefully we will get that room again. The cafe has salads, sandwiches and the usual stuff. There is an ice cream shop right next door which many took advantage of it last time.
After lunch you can take the 30 minute glass bottom boat tour. Tickets are 11 for adults or 10 for seniors. There are also walking trails if you feel like a stroll before heading home.
This will be rescheduled if the weather doesn't cooperate.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
I hope you can join us! Silver Springs is very nice.
