What we're about

Humanist: Someone who believes that our behavior should be intentional and support our need to live together in community. By contributing to the happiness and welfare of others we will be building our own happiness, too.

I became the organizer of "Gainesville Freethinkers Humanists & Atheists Meetup" and the "Sunday Assembly Gainesville Freethinker Humanist Meetup" groups in November 2019. These groups were both public faces of the Sunday Assembly (SA) Gainesville. As the new organizer, my intent is to transform this group to be focused on discussions and social events for those who are open-minded humanist thinking people.

I renamed the group - intentionally removing "atheist" from the title because your religion or lack thereof doesn't matter. What matters is being open minded, being able to share ideas and disagree with smiles, and understanding that our lives will be better if we can join together in community.

If you're looking for the Sunday Assembly group, please see that meetup group (named above). They continue to meet each Sunday morning for a "service" that is not tied to any particular religious belief. They can also be reached at their website http://SAGainesville.weebly.com or on Facebook "Sunday Assembly Gainesville". I'm not responsible for either the website nor FB.

September Sunday Assembly

Pride Community Center of North Central Florida

The Sunday Assembly is this Sunday, Sept 19, at 11 am, both in-person and streamed on zoom. Please join us for the fellowship, songs, and learning.

Our guest speaker for September is Master Gardener Julie Naim. She will present ”Welcoming Winter: Cool Season Vegetable Gardening in Florida". Unlike unlucky northerners, we can have productive gardens year-round. There will be time for discussion following her presentation.

Sunday Assembly is a non-sectarian humanist group. All are welcome regardless of belief or lack thereof. Our Assembly is not about any god; it's about celebrating life.

We meet in-person at the Pride Community Center of North Central Florida (PCCNCF), 3131 NW 13 Street. Please park around the Pride Center building, not in front of other businesses in the Liberty Center. We will also be live streaming on Zoom; I will send a link to those who RSVP by 8am Sunday.

COVID POLICY - We request that if you attend in-person that you are:
1) fully vaccinated
2) show no symptoms which might be Covid
3) have not knowingly been exposed within the last 10 days
We also *strongly* recommend that everyone wear a mask to protect their health. The Pride Center is indoor space so wearing a mask is prudent. Take care of yourself and be respectful of others wishes.

After the Assembly we will have our social time with treats and drinks.

Our website is www.SundayAssemblyGainesville.org

And mark your calendar now: the October Brunch (1st Sunday) is on the 3rd, and the next Assembly (3rd Sunday) is on Oct 17th.
