Intro to IMPROV at Old Town Improv Co.

Join us for Intro to IMPROV at Old Town Improv Co. in Old Town Wednesday, November 16th. It's fun. It's social. It's Game Night ... sort of.

What is Improvisation?

The craft of IMPROV is being spontaneous and creating without preparation. It is the art of ... well ... making stuff up. During the workshop, we'll do warm-up exercises and play some creative performance games (similar to those seen on 'Whose Line?').

NOT Necessary - Prior improv experience, preparation, natural performer's instincts, or a keen sense of humor.

SOMEWHAT Necessary - Willingness to try, courage to adventure, and ability to listen.

QUITE Necessary - Play, Relax, and Have Fun!

By discovering some of the fundamentals of improvisational comedy, you can learn techniques to think more quickly on your feet, become more creative, improve your storytelling skills, be more spontaneous, improve your teamwork and communication skills, and end up with better ABs (seriously, laughing is a workout).

Whether you've tried it before, or have no idea what I've been describing, come out and have some fun and laughs with us. You can play some, you can watch some, you will laugh a lot.

Come as a group, bring a friend, or just show up. We'll take care of the rest.

6:00pm to 6:30pm – Happy Hour at Miguel's ??? (optional)
6:30pm to 9:00pm – Improv
9:00pm to 9:30pm – Happier Hour at Miguel's ??? (optional)

Visit for more information.

IMPORTANT - Space is limited to 18 participants, so please RSVP only if you plan to attend. If something comes up, please change your RSVP to allow others to join. Thanks!

PAYMENT - This class normally costs $40, but is FREE for our group! You are encouraged (but not required) to contribute a small amount at the end of the night to our host (Philip). If you had fun, $5 is appreciated. If you had the greatest time of your life, $10 is appreciated. These contributions help offset the cost of running the event.

Last night was a complete blast! Not only did we learn some history and elements of improv, we got to to be silly together. It was a nice mix of people who had some experience and others who didn't. It all worked out hilariously!

Hey friends! I'm looking forward to the workshop tonight.

    Couple things...
    > We're going to have a blast!

    > Location is just to the left of Churchill Cigar Lounge, across from Miguel's.

    > I encourage you to bring a WATER bottle, so you can wet your whistle throughout the night. You are welcome to bring a snack if you like, for yourself, or to share.
There is a cigar bar next door and lots of great restaurants, where you can acquire a beverage before/after if you like, but you are also welcome to bring one with you, if you want to enjoy it while you're at the workshop. (ie. wine, whiskey, fresh pressed wheat grass, or whatever)...extra cups on site.

      > Feel free to bring a friend or two along, even if they are just watching. (..please indicate on your RSVP). The owner of the theatre may let me give away some vouchers to come back and see a show there, to anyone who attends the workshop.

      > Clothing wise: just be comfortable.

      > If you have to be a little late, or leave before the end, that is ok. Yay! See you tonight! :)
