For those members who have not yet met me, my name is Barbara Woodyatt (usual basic passport photo) and I have recently taken over as organiser of the Gay Women in Cheshire Meetup Group which was founded and run for 18 months by Sara Miles. Sara has stepped down to pursue other personal commitments and I would like to thank her on behalf of the group, for her hard work and organisation of this venture.
To reiterate our purpose, particularly for new members, we specifically identify as being LGBT and offer a diverse range of opportunities to meet up and enjoy events, which in the past have included walks, meals out, theatre and cinema visits, 10 pin bowling, picnics, literary events etc. We also have a film group which meets on a monthly basis at the Cornerhouse in Manchester and is run by one of our longstanding members. All members are invited to suggest events for consideration.
The group membership now totals over 150 and on occasions when an event is popular, restrictions on numbers may need be indicated in the listing of that event particularly for booking restaurants. This may mean that we are unable to accommodate guests of members.
Maintaining the Gay Women in Cheshire website costs £120 per annum and it would be appreciated if donations towards the running costs (amount at your own discretion) could be made on your first visit to an event (for new members) or on your next visit for existing members who have not yet subscribed.
There are no specific rules and regulations but it is expected that members will have respect and consideration for others and that punctuality at the time stated for an event, will be observed to avoid unnecessary delays. A contact number will always be given. If for any reason you need to drop out from an event to which you have previously responded indicating that you will attend, it would be useful if you could amend your RSVP.
Thank you for reading these comments and for your co-operation. I hope you enjoy being a member of Gay Women in Cheshire.
Attendance at all events is undertaken at the member's own risk and any organiser of an event takes no responsibility for untoward occurrences.
