Tell us a little about yourself.

Watching the Big Bang Theory one night, I realized that between my career and my family I had let my nerdier interests slide. After searching for a way to connect with people who share those interests, I found this group. I knew for sure that I had found my home when I saw the 25th Anniversary Spaceballs screening--although, sadly, I'll be out of town that weekend.

What's your favorite geekdom?

Just about any pop culture from the[masked] decade holds a special place in my heart. Those are the ten years gave us Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Tom Baker's Dr. Who, E.T., Christopher Reeve's Superman, the Goonies, Rocky, Back to the Future--and on and on. I tear up just thinking about it. . . . (The preceding list is probably my favorite specific instances of geekdom--plus Independence Day, the most underrated movie of 1990s. And Lost, of course.) More recently, I've taken advantage of DC's relaunch of its titles to try to get into comic books--something I've wanted to do for a while, but I've been too intimidated either to just jump in or to learn the backstories. And I want to make an effort to get caught up on other aspects of contemporary geek culture, which is something I haven't always had the time to do.

Kirk or Picard?

I'm really excited to have found this group. Each and every one of the meetups sounds incredibly cool. My biggest disappointment is that I probably won't have time to attend all of them.
