Living In a Distributed World
Howdy, Folks! We've got another awesome talk lined up for May's meetup. Vishal Bardoloi, a Lead Developer here at ThoughtWorks, will be giving the talk, "Living in a Distributed World." "A distributed system is one in which the failure of a computer you didn't even know existed can render your own computer unusable." - Leslie Lamport We are increasingly living in the world of distributed systems - microservices, 3rd party APIs, NoSQL databases. But many developers haven't made the paradigm shift from the way we used to build monoliths. Not taking into account failure handling, code coupling, data latency, etc. can make our systems fragile and our customers unhappy on a massive scale. Come take a deep dive into the process of designing for a distributed world. Please note: Due to some scheduling conflicts next month, May's meetup will be on the 3rd Wednesday of the month (May 16th) instead of the 1st Wednesday. Apologies for any inconveniences here. We hope to still see all of you there! As usual, food and drinks will be provided by ThoughtWorks :)

ThoughtWorks' consultants will be working on a bunch of open source projects after work. Come and work with them on their projects, or bring your own.

ThoughtWorks was the first sizable consultancy to switch to Agile (mostly XP) methodologies in 2000, and even for open source they prefer test driven development (TDD) and related projects.
