Hello Geekspace --- News Update!

Hello All Geekspace Meetup Members,

I wanted to send out an email about a couple pieces of news!!!

We have reduced the monthly dues for membership to $5/month until we find a space.

The organization has started offering classes and we have been holding these at the Work Spot in Duluth.  Our classes are very reasonable in price compared to what other hacker/maker spaces charge usually in the $20-$40 range.  If you can't come to a class but are interested please post a comment and let us know there is interest so we can run the class again.  Please also let all your friends know about the classes, we are trying to expand our membership and word of mouth is the strongest advertisement.

Current lineup of classes scheduled or in the works:

8/4 - Sunday 2-5pm      Intro to 3D design and basic 3D printing How-To.                   NOTE: IF ANYONE COULD BRING A 3D PRINTER TO DEMO TO THIS CLASS IT WOULD BE NICE
Later in August TBA       Beginner C++ class series
Later in August TBA       ARDUINO class based on the Arduino Uno
September TBA             PIC Microcontroller Class or Series

If you have a class that you can teach please contact one of the officers or post it on Meetup and we will help you with it.  We are trying to build a robust set of classes for Geekspace to offer to the public to help pay for our space.

There are two upcoming events that Geekspace Gwinnett will be participating in and we need your help, your projects, and your time!!!
9/26 - Thursday 10am - 3pm        Turner Mini Maker Faire
10/26 - Saturday 10am - 5pm       Atlanta Mini Maker Faire   Setup and breakdown will extend beyond these times most likely.

We are looking for ideas about projects to display and demonstrate at these two high profile events and we need people to help build any projects we need to work on and volunteers to assist on the day of the event to help run the booth.  We are a member driven organization and we would like to see some member participation.

One final note, we have started creating some business meeting events.  These will be ongoing events to work on Maker Faire projects and planning, discuss organization business like fund raising, 501c3 filing, and space rental.

Thank you for supporting our organization, we hope to see you in a real Geekspace soon!
