Philly Brewpub Transit Tour IV

Join us for the fourth PBTT on Saturday, April 19th, beginning at noon. We will travel by mass transit (bus, subway, trolley and rail) and on foot to all 8 breweries/brewpubs in one exciting day! You can join us for the full day, or hop on-board anytime. The tentative scheduled arrival times at each location are listed below. I will be updating the times as I work through the Septa schedules.

There is no charge to attend, and it's pay-as-you-go. There are public brewery tours at PBC & Yards, and we will be getting private tours at Crime and Punishment & Dock Street. Note: Crime and Punishment isn’t even open yet – we’re getting a special tasting there!

Official Start: Meet at Noon at Philadelphia Brewing Company (PBC), 2439 Amber Street. If you don’t make it there by 1 PM we will be gone and on our way to the next stop!

Visiting the following locations:
> Philadelphia Brewing Company (Kensington) – start at noon
> Yards Brewing Company (Northern Liberties) – arrive about 1:20
> Crime and Punishment (Fairmount) – arrive about 2:30
> Dock Street Brewing Company (West Philly) – arrive about 4:30
> Iron Hill Chestnut Hill (Chestnut Hill) – arrive about 7:00
> Earth – Bread + Brewery (Mt. Airy) – arrive about 8:00
> Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant (Manayunk) – arrive about 9:30
> Nodding Head Brewery & Restaurant (Center City) – arrive about 11:0

Recommendations:
> Be Punctual - We will average just over 50 minutes at each stop, sticking to a strict time schedule. There will be 10 and 5 minute warnings before our departure to catch the next connection.
> Purchase a SEPTA Independence Pass ($12) - it allows all-day city transit travel and will be valid on all forms of transportation that we will be using.
> Wear good walking shoes - we will be walking periodically throughout the day - the furthest walking distance between stops is .6 miles. The total walking distance will be less than 2 ½ miles. And dress for the windy weather!!! We will be outside on occasion, so bring layers.
> Bring money - this is pay-as-you-go. Most places charge for beer and food, so bring enough funds to satisfy your beer and food appetite. We will have extra time at Dock Street (same as last year) and many of us plan on eating there.
> Transportation - If you’re taking mass transit to and from the crawl (like I am!), here are some tips:
o To PBC - take the Market-Frankford Line to 2nd Street & Market. Then transfer to the Route 5 Bus (at Front & Market Streets) and take it to Hagert Street. Brewery is across the street.
o From Nodding Head – from 15th and Sansom St, you will have easy access to the Market-Frankford Line and the Subway Line at 15th & Market or Suburban Station at 16th & JFK.

Times are all set and will not change. I've added buffer time so that we don't miss any connections. That said, slow or broken transit could affect us, so feel free to text me [masked]) if we're not where we're supposed to be.

I'm looking forward to this! I'll only be there for the first 3 stops, but I'll mention that Dock Street is a local hang out for me (and I also happen to be their electrician) so I can highly recommend their amazing pizzas!!!
Also, forgive me if this seems a little overly detail-oriented, but:
...in large groups it's really helpful to the restaurants and wait-staff to bring cash/small bills so they don't have to deal with the extra time and hassle of credit cards. :)
(I hope this is helpful, I swear I'm not trying to be a control-freak!!!)

Final details and itinerary are up at http://www.clubedventures.com/edvents/pbtt/april2014/PBTT2014_Intro.htm
I will have the orange flag at the bar at Philadelphia Brewing Company and should be easy to spot. Please read the details sheet on the above link. You don't need to print the itinerary, but it's good to know what transit we'll be taking (and when we'll be taking it). Dress for the weather - looks warm and clear during the day and chilly at night. We have extra time at Dock Street to eat. And be sure to get an Independence Pass ($12) if you don't have a SEPTA Trailpass. See you sometime between noon and 12:57 (when we depart!) at PBC... and get there before 12:15 if you want to take their free tour (which is great).
