Join other amateur genealogy enthusiasts from the popular online community created by Thomas MacEntee, author of the Genealogy Do-Over Workbook, for an informal social meetup to share successes, brainstorm ideas and tackle challenges, all in a supportive setting. Beginners welcome.
Hereford Branch of the Baltimore County Public Library
1. Who is this for? Anyone who loves to research their family tree, and would like to participate in a discussion about their research. And if you are just beginning to research for the first time, this is an opportunity to learn how to research your family history more effectively and avoid the mistakes many of us have made when starting out.
2. Who else? Do your facts have sources? Do you evaluate evidence before attaching a person to your family tree? Do you plan your research? If you need to improve your skills - this meeting is an opportunity to become a more effective researcher.
3. What do I need to do before coming to the meeting? Go to Thomas MacEntee's website: https://genealogydoover.com/ and look at the 12 "Do-over" topics. Think about what you have accomplished and where you need to improve.
4. All levels are welcome. A librarian will be available before and after the meeting to share resources and help you use the genealogy databases offered by the Baltimore County Library.
