Come & join me & Toby for a “Sunday wander” around Colinton Dell.
This circular walk will follow a disused railway line (now a well-maintained path) through the scenic and magical Colinton Dell: passing by weirs, ruins and through an atmospheric (and disused!) railway tunnel. The walk will begin outside the Post Office in Colinton Village. From there, we will walk through Colinton Dell, passing through the railway tunnel and reaching the Union Canal aqueduct at Slateford. There, we will descend (down several steps) past the Water of Leith Visitor Centre, and on to the Blue Goose Pub (dog friendly). You can opt out here if you desire and get the number 44 back into town or join us for the return to the start point. On the way back, we'll follow the Water of Leith walkway on the other side of the Dell, enjoying the nature, scenery and history along the way. We'll finish back in Colinton village at Spylaw park where if nice can sit and have a chat and rest. Frequent buses run from Colinton to the city centre. We'll stop for a halfway break. If we fancy a pint / hot drink, we could pop in to the Blue Goose Pub. Bring waterproofs aswell, just in case!
It's likely that we'll extend the route (by a couple of miles), by walking along the Union Canal to Harrison Park. From here, we'll head back to the Blue Goose Pub for our halfway break.

UPDATE - As from 19th April 2014, I will be the Lead Organiser for this Group. This means that fees are due for a further 6 months webspace rental from MeetUp. If possible could all members pay £2 (per year) to contribute towards the MeetUp fees? Much appreciated, Debs.
