Hi there & welcome to Gentle Jaunts.
As the name suggests, we meet up to go on walks which are not to difficult, and are conducted at a reasonable pace. The group is as much a social activity, as it is a form of exercise. We meet to enjoy each others company, as well as get exercise and fresh air.
A brief explanation of the route, distance, terrain and conditions, will be given for each walk. You should read this, and decide whether you are able to manage the walk. Having read this then come along with the correct clothing, footwear and equipment for the walk: that is do you need boots and warm waterproof clothing, or sun block and plenty of water. You will also be advised if there is refreshment available, or do you need to bring your own. It is your responsibility to come along properly equipped for the walk. If in doubt ask in the comments.
Gentle Jaunts has always welcomed people who bring their dogs along. However, anyone who brings a dog to the walk must keep it under proper safe control. Neither the dog or the walker should create a hazard or problem for others. No dog should be allowed to worry livestock, bite people or harass protected or vulnerable creatures. Should this type of behaviour occur, the walker and/or dog may be banned from the meet up, depending on the circumstances.
Gentle Jaunts is a not for profit organisation, in fact it costs myself and the other organisers to lead these activities. We do not carry public liability insurance, and are not liable for any loss, damage or injury incurred during our activities. No outdoor activity can be completely safe and free from hazard. It is therefor your own responsibility to make a judgment as to whether you are able to safely take part in any of our walks or activities.
