Welcome to Geocaching DC and Beyond!

This Meet-Up is for those already addicted to or wanting to discover the fun and adventure that is Geocaching.

Everyone, regardless of age or ability is welcome to join the group...Muggle and Cacher alike. Unless otherwise stated in the Meet-Up description, ALL EVENTS ARE KID / FAMILY FREINDLY. My son started geocaching when he was kids are never too young to join the fun.

My goal is to host introductory Meet-Ups to convert Muggles to Cachers, a Geocaching-101 if you will. From there expand into various themed Meet-Ups with input from members. Of course, everyone is welcome to host fact I encourage it.

Since members come from all over DC/VA/MD, I'd like to have a co-organizer from these areas to help support Geocaching DC and Beyond. If you are interested, please email me.

So what is Geocaching?

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Cachers navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. Geocaches vary in size and appearance. They can be everything from large, clear plastic containers to film canisters to a fake rock with a secret compartment.

Geocaches can be found all over the world. It is common for cachers to hide caches in locations that are important to them, reflecting a special interest or skill of the cache owner. These locations can be quite diverse ranging from a local park, to the end of a long hike, in a parking lot, or even underwater.

More information about geocaching can be found here:

Membership is free. However, donations are appreciated and used solely to help off set the fees charged by MeetUp for hosting the group.
