Hike For Fitness In Nature!
I keep the group "small" and "not slow".
Hike will be postponed if there are less than 5 hikers.
There is no need to sign up if you cannot commit.
PLEASE GET BACK TO READ THE UPDATES as we go.
Weekends are more popular and parking spots can be taken faster than you think. The parking lot at this location is limited and that it is Saturday when you can expect more hikers. 4-5 People will fit in one car. 👌My team will not take up too much space at the parking area unless there are more than 5 upto 8 hikers, then we will take 2 cars. There is an exception for hikers that live closer to the trailhead upnorth.
I usually drive. The road is well-paved. Please remain soft spoken conversations while taking a ride with me or anyone that is driving you there. Do contribute for gas as you do not take advantage of people.👍
We will eat at a Mexican restaurant after the hike as long as it does not get too late. FITNESS AND FUN!
SPECIAL EDITION: To Inspire The Completion of Hiking the Appalachians in Georgia dedicated to David Day following his wish. Who is David?
I started hiking the AT in October 2015 and finished the last section in early 2016. The Appalachians are beautiful and I could hike there anytime but I am leading these hikes to keep a promise to myself for David Day, the man who inspired me to complete the GA AT.
It's better late than never. Hopefully, more dedicated hikers will sign up.
HIKING DISTANCE: 16 miles (It's never going to be the exact mileage.)
HIKING TIME: 6-7 hours (Experienced hikers or athletic individuals with great endurance)
SPEED: Catch up (Noone will be left behind). The one before the last should turn head often times to see if your last teammate is not missing or getting any injuries. I take time uphills and run on flat and downhills as my own hiking. If you are fast when I stop checking on people, you stop. You are patient and kind yet strong and smiling, you are hiking friend for life. If you look too serious, too moody for any reasons too long, it will be no good for a hike of happy trails of my kind.
I took a good amount of time to plan all these routes on ALLTRAILS app.
Series 1 - Amicalola Falls to Springer Mountain via Hike Inn (if enough time)
Series 2 - Springer Mountain Gap to the top, Southern Terminus. Turn around then use Benton Mackaye trail all the way to Long Creek Falls, then hike back using the AT trail to the gap parking lot
Series 3 - Cooper Gap to Long Creek Falls (out and back)
Series 4 - Gooch Gap to Woody Gap (out and back) then Cooper Gap (park here first)
Series 5 - Woody to Ramrock Mountain (out and back) then Neels Gap (park at Neels Gap first)
Series 6 - Byron Herbert Reece to Hogpen Gap (out and back)
Series 7 - Unicoi Gap to Hogpen Gap (one way) (park one car at Hogpen Gap first)
Series 8 - Dick's Creek Gap to Unicoi Gap (one way) (park one car at Unicoi Gap first) 16.1 miles
Series 9 - Dick's Creek Gap to Bly Gap (out and back) 17.7 miles (done)
Should you have any questions, please send me a private message. I am not big on a string of comments. At times, it may confuse people.
For such a meetup of a given and it is free, organizers would spend time doing research and do what it takes to come up with things like this, your full cooperation is appreciated.
