DEAR FELLOW HIKING ADVENTURERS
This is Part 2 of the Great Smoky Mountains hiking in winter that I would like to share and lead.
Refer to Part 1 link: https://www.meetup.com/GeorgiaAdventurersGroup/events/265620185/)
RSVP is closed. Please do self-evaluation before you send me a message of interest.
We love team players and the smilers. You love life. Come this way. Please send a private message.
If this meetup becomes active, please follow the details:
FITNESS HIKE AND FUN OF THE SCENIC TRAIL, THE BEAUTY OF THE SMOKIES!
STRENUOUS! Experienced hikers only.
Road closures are expected during winter season depending on the weather of the day and the week. Snow storm, snow rain and heavy rain can cause bad road conditions.
In case they announce a road closure, you can still access the traihead at the Smokemont Campground and the loop is 16 miles. Elevation gain: 3,465 ft reaching the peack at 5,110 ft. It's all uphills from the elavation 2,206 ft then all downhills at speedy Gonzalez speed. No worries if we cannot complete this loop.
The Great Smoky Mountains Interactive Trail Map:
One of the best interactive map that I have ever seen.
I have checked the forecast and it has been consistently good for the date of hiking. That doesn't mean anything right now. I will keep you posted. We hike rain or shine but not in the snow storm. lol
This meetup is free. Please make sure that your appreciation will stand out.
Updates are possible. Stay tuned!!!!
