What we're about
About this Meetup
This Meetup was set up in 2015 by Wool and the Gang, and then taken over by Sonia a year later. Sonia runs Meetups with the aim of helping busy Londoners uncover their creative talents. It's a chance to try out crafting for the first time, if you're already a crafter, it's a great place to come along and meet crafty people to hang out with.
Sonia is also the Founder of London Craft Club, a creative business which runs craft classes and workshops at lots of different venues around London. London Craft Club (https://londoncraftclub.co.uk/) sponsors this Meetup by providing materials, organising the venue and making sure there is someone to host it at least once a month. Find out more about it here :www.londoncraftclub.co.uk.
Who comes to Get Your Knit On Meetups?
Our Meetup members vary from people who've never crafted before but want to get started, to people who are great at one craft but might like to share skills and learn new crafts. This is a grown-ups only Meetup! We do love kids, but many of our members come here to get some "me-time" away from little ones, so 16 years and over please!
What kind of Meetups do we hold?
CRAFT LIFE is our longest running Meetup. It used to be called Coffee and Craft and maybe a Cocktail but CRAFT LIFE is so much easier! London Craft Club (https://londoncraftclub.co.uk/) supplies free materials, and a basic project to try, but you're welcome to bring your own craft that you're working on, lots of people do. There's always someone from London Craft Club hosting it, and although it's not a taught session, they'll show you how to do the free craft and get everyone settled in. They run once a month at Saucer and Spritz in Tottenham Court Road, usually 2.30-4.30pm on a Saturday afternoon. It's been going several years now and gets really packed out, filling the cafe completely up, so do RSVP in good time! It's totally free, but we do ask you to buy at least one hot drink in the cafe, and we do ask that you don't bring your own food and drink into the cafe. They don't charge us to use the space, so we like to show our appreciation to them!
CRAFT LIFE LATE is our newer evening Meetup. It's exactly the same as CRAFT LIFE, except it runs 6.30 - 8.30pm on a weekday evening. As usual, the craft is supplied by London Craft Club (https://londoncraftclub.co.uk/) and people are very welcome to stay for drinks afterwards!
Many crafty friendships have been forged at these Meetups, they welcoming and fun and everyone is welcome.
We hope to meet you soon!
Sonia and everyone at London Craft Club, Get Your Knit On and the Papercraft Club
