What we're about

Ready for some paddling? This group is for people that love or want an opportunity to paddle our local rivers and lakes. Enjoy and explore the natural wonders of the area such as the chance to see an osprey, bald eagle, heron, king fisher, ducks, and turtles. The majority of river outings will be in slower currents providing an unhurried pace that settles the soul. We will as the group and resources become available schedule trips that involve kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle, kayak fishing, beginner/intermediate whitewater and kayak roll workshops.

One of the main goals of the GetPaddling Meetup is to streamline the complicated logistics of finding paddling buddies, setting up vehicle shuttles, and making sure everyone has appropriate equipment. To this end, we will often work with outfitters to provide shuttle service for the whole group and boat rentals to those who need them. Costs for shuttle service typically range from $20-$30 per person depending on the trip destination, and kayak rental needed would usually be an additional $25-$30 per boat. We will primarily use the https://rivannarivercompany.com Charlotesville's local paddling outfitter. RRC is happy to provide discounts for Meetup trip outfitting, so members will gain a benefit there. Other outfitters in other destinations may be used when trips go further afield around the region."

Trips will have a paddler that is familiar with the local waterways, has extensive paddling experience and loves to get out on the water.

WE WILL REQUIRE THAT YOU WEAR A PROPER FITTING AND APPROPRIATE PERSONAL FLOATATION DEVICE (PFD) ON ALL GetPaddling! OUTINGS.
