Monday - Help Serve Food at Next Door Shelter

Next Door Shelter, in the Tenderloin, is one of two emergency homeless shelters run by Episcopal Community Services (ECS). It is home to 325 people every night. There are separate sections for men and women and residents receive two meals daily.

We will be helping out by serving dinner to these individuals.

Hi Volunteers! Thank you for signing up to help tonight. And a huge thank you to those who changed their RSVP's early enough to give others a chance to join the project.

Please take a look, if you are unable to join and have not taken yourself off the list, do so as soon as possible so we can get an accurate count and give others enough time to change their plans.

We are excited to have you at the Next Door Shelter. For those who are new to the project, you will sign in at the front desk and then be directed down to the kitchen. If you are the first, just talk with anyone in the kitchen to let them know you are here to volunteer with Get Volunteering.

    Have a great project!

Would you be interested in getting some other events on this Meetup calendar or group in the future? I'm apart of volunteermatch.orga website that has a ton of organizations who are looking for help in a variety of causes. For example I'm helping out for bernal theatre in September. They also often times need people with specific skill sets for certain roles more than just general work.

Ok ill check my email. One last question. Are you ok with 5 people going to sanctuary on sunday. The staff there on that day likes to work on their own that day. I say this cause I felt really bad for a person who cam from far away to help but didnt get to do that much. It's not a negative they just have a really specific way of doing things.

Is it possible to get a Meetup of this event on Sundays. Sanctuary is small and they like to do things on their own which doesn't need as many volunteers. Often there is little to do overall on that day for 5 people.

Hi Sam, as of right now we have not been given Sunday's at Next Door Shelter. Each month I work with the volunteer manager at ECS to put together the dates they have available to give to us. So either they have another group or other volunteers that do it on Sunday. We just added Next Door on Saturday's. Hope this helps with understanding why we don't have a Sunday shift.
