Full Moon Walk: Meet new people and walk the National Mall Monuments!
Washington DC's monuments and memorials on the National Mall are spectacular in the evening, and even more so during a full moon. Since the August 26 full moon falls on a Monday we'll try a weeknight walk with familiar and new friends from our “Washington, DC History & Culture” group. Our walk will start and end at the National World War II Memorial and cover approximately 3 miles past Washington DC's most famous monuments and memorials. RSVP HERE: Schedule: Meeting Time/Socializing = 5:45-6:00 pm Departure = 6:00 pm (sharp) Moonrise = 7:13 pm Sunset = 7:01 pm Ending Time = 8:30 pm (approximate) Itinerary: National World War II Memorial (starting point) The Tidal Basin Jefferson Memorial Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial (10-minute restroom break) Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Korean War Veterans Memorial Lincoln Memorial Vietnam Veterans Memorial National World War II Memorial (ending point) __________________________________________________ Registration: Free - this event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend including children and groups. You don't need to bring your registration ticket. Unfortunately, due to National Park Service regulations, non-service pets are not allowed within the monuments and memorials but are ok in the other areas we're walking. Weather: This event will take place light rain (sprinkles) or shine. If it's on our calendar, then we're proceeding as scheduled. Meeting Point: Meet at the National World War II Memorial, on the 17th Street side, and look for a large group of friendly people with name tag stickers, which we'll hand out. I started Fitiverse ( - a fitness social network - with my brother Kevin because we found it difficult navigating the DC Fitness scene on a limited budget. What we discovered was that there was already a vast community of FREE activities in place...we just didn't know where to look. With Fitiverse and this Meetup Group, we're sharing what we discovered with you!
