Prepare for the busy Fall hiring season! This workshop is geared towards improving interviewing and salary negotiation skills, building confidence and learning from women who are looking to hire people like YOU.
In tech, the wage gap is worsening, which is why it’s key that you have a well-developed strategy to handle both interviewing itself and the salary negotiation process. While the statistics may vary depending on the source, the conversation is the same - women receive lower salary offers then men for the same position 63% of the time, with women asking for less money 69% of the time (source: http://tcrn.ch/2nTEkas).
This workshop will start with a panel discussion comprised of professional women who have both hired and been hired, negotiated their salaries and had to negotiate salaries. Then, we'll dive into a series of speed-dating-like rounds of interviews, during which you'll have a short time to mock interview for a job and then receive immediate feedback from the experts - women who have excelled in this area.
By the end of the evening, attendees should leave armed with a strategy that helps prepare you for future interviews and salary discussions, in an effort to close the pay gap in your life and help you land your dream role. We’ll clarify the role of human resources and recruiters in various organizations, as well as dispel myths about hiring managers. We’ll talk about negotiation tactics and how they vary with recruiters and agencies, or during promotions and annual reviews. This will include things you can be doing right now to be proactive and prepared, like improving your resume, noting your key accomplishments, and being aware of how your role has changed over time. We can discuss your experiences and we'll candidly share ours, both as managers, employees, and women in a highly competitive industry.

Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Mamava
Nikkie graduated from the University of Vermont as a varsity student-athlete with a Bachelor of Arts in English & Political Science and also pursued a Masters of Arts in English. She worked at IKON Office Solutions/Ricoh and MyWebGrocer before joining the Mamava team, where she is responsible for all digital marketing, social media engagement with moms and revenue generation including the sponsorship monetization of the lactation pods. Nikkie lives in Charlotte, VT with her husband, son and daughter. She is happiest outdoors and spends her free time sailing, hiking, gardening or on the soccer field.
Vice President, Client Experience, Aspenti Health
Vanessa graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. After working at the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, New Breed Marketing, and MyWebGrocer, Vanessa recently joined the growing leadership team at Aspenti Health, formerly Burlington Labs, leading its customer experience department. Vanessa holds certifications in Leadership and Management, has a broad range of experience with business operations, analysis, human resources and account management, and is passionate about coaching her teams to be strategic thinkers.
Vanessa lives in Richmond with her husband and daughter, in a home they built.
Organizational Development Consultant, NorthCountry Federal Credit Union
Mary is a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach with over 20 years of experience with individuals and groups in many settings. Dubbed a Corporate Cheerleader, Mary collaboratively works with executive and senior management teams and people at all levels to create synergy and achieve peak individual and organizational success! A native Vermonter, Mary currently lives in Williston and works as an Organizational Development Consultant with NorthCountry Federal Credit Union, based in South Burlington.

Rachel Allard graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication. She currently resides in Williston, and is an avid reader, traveler, skier, and eater. Professionally, Rachel knew digital advertising was where she wanted to be early on; however, she chanced upon SaaS, operations, marketing automation and analytics. The fast pace, infinite opportunities, daily problem solving challenges, and amazing people in this industry are what fuel her passion for it, and she looks forward to many years of learning, adapting and growing with it. Currently, Rachel serves as Vice President of Operations for Union Street Media, a digital marketing service and technology provider for the real estate industry.
