Have you experimented with basic HTML/CSS, but want to take the next step in learning how to make an interesting, modern website? Already have your own site and want to have more control over it? Then this class is for you.

This intermediate program will cover topics related to fonts, compatibility, responsive design, and the cool, new capabilities of HTML5 and CSS3.

Note: You are NOT required to take our introductory workshop before taking this one, but it IS recommended if you are new to HTML/CSS.

Tech Requirements:

• Your laptop.

• A modern browser with either Chrome and the "Web Developer" extension or Firefox and Firebug installed.

• A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 2 (It's free and available for both Mac and PC).

Course Cost: $90.00

Instructor:

Liz Abinante is a very enthusiastic web developer living in Chicago. She is co-leader of GDI Chicago and a full-stack engineer at Instructure. She speaks, teaches, and writes about web development, diversity, education, accessibility, and popular culture. She will do just about anything for a good taco.

Hi Liz! Ohh! I'm out of town next weekend :( boo. Is there an advanced session in the works? I would be interested in the intermediate when it's offered again or an advanced session if its offered. Hope you're well! DBC prep is getting intense :) Loving it!

We're not sure yet, but we will send an email out to the group when it opens up!

Hi guys! Good questions. We spend very little time going over CSS basics so I would recommend taking the intro class or spending time learning some CSS before attending. Does that help?

For folks looking for to brush up on CSS: try Codecademy! It's free and quite comprehensive.

hi! This sounds really great, but like Candice - I am not sure if I would fall into beginners or intermediate. I have never really written any CSS, but can code a REALLY simple (pretty ugly) website with html. Mostly I use already designed Wordpress templates and tweak these if need be. Would I fall into intermediate?

You might want to attend the Intro class, Christy. If you feel really comfortable with HTML, you can try the online learning Kathryn recommended.

I'm out of town during the intro class, but want to jump in! I've worked with HTML a bit, but not CSS. Quick learner. Should I attend this class?

See Kathryn's comment above - also, if you're looking to brush up on CSS, you can try Codecademy. Hope that helps!
