The Indianapolis chapter of Girl Develop It is one of the biggest and active chapters in the organization, and we are looking for the next group of leaders that will shape this amazing community. Come to this callout to learn more about the roles we are looking for - Chapter Leaders, Class Organizers, and Event Organizers. You will have a chance to learn about the time commitment for the various roles, the perks of getting to be involved with Girl Develop It, and success stories from current leaders. FAQ: Do I need to be a coder to become a leader with Girl Develop It? People ask us all the time if you need to have coding skills to participate as a leader with GDI. You do not! While having coding skills is a plus, we welcome anyone who has an interest in positively impacting the tech community and improving tech literacy, regardless if you are a coder or not. LOCATION: We will update this meetup on location details when they become available.

It's used by tech companies all over the world Join us for GDI Indy's Introduction to Python course, designed for women who have limited to no programming experience. During this interactive workshop, we'll explore the basic components of a programming language: data types, functions, conditional statements and loops. We'll mix lecture and practice, and we'll work through lots of problems together. You'll leave the workshop with several tested tutorials to work through on your own. We'll spend part of the first class helping you set up a development environment, so there's no need to install software ahead of time. Just bring your laptop and come prepared to write your first lines of Python code. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Your laptop and charger. Wifi & power strips will be provided. Chrome browser (suggested).
