HTML & CSS 101: Website Building - Saturday, Feb 18th

Want to learn how to build your own website? This class is for you! We will guide you through the basics of HTML and give you some readily-applicable skills in building a webpage. We will cover how to write HTML pages including HTML markup such as text, lists, links, images, tables, forms, videos, audio & more.  

DATES & TIMES

This class will be offered on Saturday, February 18th from 10 am to 4 pm, which leaves 5 and a half hours for class time and 30 minutes for lunch. 

INSTRUCTOR

We are honored to have Tessa Kriesel, an Agency & Community Engineer at Pantheon, teach our class. She has a degree in web development and has 11 years of experience under her belt.

PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE

None! We will work from the ground up, and cover all the HTML & CSS fundamentals needed to build a basic website.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

1.  Download Sublime Text or Atom

2.  Have either Chrome or Firefox installed on your laptop

 **If you need help doing any of this, please come 20-25 minutes early and I can help you set it up! 

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS

• Laptop & Charger (there will be Wi-Fi and power strips available) 

• Don't own a laptop? No problem! GDI has a few extra laptops on hand, just e-mail Kelsey at [masked] to request one for this class.

PARKING 

Lot surface parking is available on the west side of the West End Plaza building off of Parkdale Drive. Attendees should enter the west entrance of the building.

Light breakfast and lunch will be provided by our sponsor. The meals are usually something affordable for feeding a large group, like pizza or sandwiches. In these instances, we will offer both vegetarian and meat based options. If you have other dietary restrictions such as gluten free, dairy free, vegan, etc., please be sure to bring your own lunch.
